DHS Secretary Wolf announced health efforts for returning citizens.
Joining the task force briefing on Friday morning was Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. He assured Americans that the other work of the State Department remains a priority for them, with diplomatic efforts, peace negotiations, and looking after Americans abroad.
In addition to restricting non-essential traffic between the U.S. and Canada, non-essential travel has also been agreed to be eliminated between the U.S. and Mexico.
Yesterday, the State Department issued a level 4 global travel advisory that means all non-essential travel between the U.S. and any other nation should be avoided. Travel abroad could be disrupted. Americans abroad should seek return to the U.S.
He discussed a broad disinformation campaign about the source of the virus, and urged Americans to be cautious about the places they receive information.
Secretary of DHS Chad Wolf discussed the screening that has been done on individuals coming back from locations abroad to assure the safety of the American public.
He discussed cross-border travel and the measures being taken in cooperation with both Canada and Mexico. Non-essential travel does not affect commerce and trade. Emergency response, educational activities and a few other activities are possible, but should be checked out ahead of time.
All individuals seeking to enter the U.S. from either border will need to have proper documentation. They must have individual identification and medical information. Individuals arriving without documentation will be returned in an effort to keep Americans safe.
